FLAG BOX

In 2023, the BLTA recognized the need for a respectful way to dispose of worn American flags. With the help of Ed and Betsy Aras, a sturdy flag disposal box was constructed, painted, and installed across the street from the Barnegat Light Post Office.  Since its creation, hundreds of flags have been placed in the box by community members. When the box is full, BLTA volunteers empty it and transport the flags to a local VFW post, where they are retired in the traditional ceremonial burning.
